Thomas Felsberg, leading practitioner in bankruptcy and capital markets law, puts his considerable skills in this are to work as CEO of Hilco Brazil. 

Prior to joining Hilco Global, Thomas was managing partner of the New York office of Felsberg Advogados, the Sao Paulo, Brazil-based law firm founded in 1970 by his father, Thomas Benes Felsberg.  Over the years, Felsberg Advogados became Brazil’s largest and most experienced law practice focused complex business transactions, such as privatizations, project finance transactions, corporate restructurings, and mergers and acquisitions. The firm was at the forefront of virtually all of Brazil’s most important bankruptcy cases, including Varig, Bombril, Parmalat, Mabe, Lupatech, Grupo Rede, Celpa, OSX and OGX.

Thomas is recognized as one of that nation’s foremost authorities on Recuperação Judicial, the Brazilian equivalent of U.S. Chapter 11 bankruptcy workout.  He brings both an international perspective and local expertise to distressed transactions and special situation opportunities originating in Brazil as well as internationally. He has structured, negotiated and closed major international transactions, both as attorney-of-record and as a principal investor. 

Thomas is a graduate of Duke University School of Law (Durham, NC) and Mackenzie University Law School (Sao Paulo, Brazil). He earned academic and leadership distinctions at both schools. Thomas is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Brazilian Bar Association.
